I like this one word title thing I'm trying out. It makes me feel cool, which is all that counts...but really I just don't wanna sit around and think of what to title these posts.

Oh, and yes I go from posting Spring/Summer clothes to Fall, because I don't trust the weather. I really wouldn't be surprised if I saw 30 feet of snow outside AGAIN.

But, this is short and relatively to the point. MofM (Man of Moods) released their F/W 2010 preview, and I want this hoodie. It just looks complex, and it'll give me a challenge getting dressed in the morning haha. But knowing my luck it'll probably keep me as warm as an ice cube.

Pre-order it at Glaice. Yes, the site is in a foreign language. No, I don't know why. Just pre-order one for me. :) I'll be your best friend for life. Or until I want something else.

The title of the post makes me want to go back to Universal Studios and ride The Incredible Hulk but I'll be waiting for my bank to be mroe legit and less strained before we make moves like that. However, me and my boys will be making cross-country moves in a city near you this summer...but i digress.

Back to the point.

I have about 3 colors that I stick with wearing, and neon-type green isn't one of them. But the Spring 10 Nike Auto Flight's are on point. Enough black to keep me from feeling like I dipped my feet in skittles, and enough green to make me feel like I'm doing something interesting with my size ginormous feet. Now, the style isn't exactly groundbreaking, and to be honest they look like a lot of other Nike's (the Delta Forces come to mind first) but I'm not looking to wear Andy Warhol on my feet, I just want a cool color. I'm so laidback I might fall over. But you get the point.

The retail is around $90. I can certainly live with that.

I'm all for hometown pride, and I like my DC fitted's just fine, but I think this is a little too much. And it's grey leather. Think Honda Accord leather. I don't want that on my feet.

But since people now are trying to be so 'individualistic' then maybe they'll like this. Only 12 pairs of these Vans Vault will be sold Mon, Apr 5 2010 at Commonwealth in NW DC. So yeah, I guess it's kind of a collectors item. I'll pass on this treasure.

Odd title post I'm sure, but this particular post is about Chris Brown, who I really don't have strong feelings towards, positive or negative anyway haha. I do think he's a little too pretentious and a little too lacking in the good music department, but I digress. Nine times out of ten, I actually enjoy some of his outfits, and his recent photo ops in Milan this week for Men's Fashion Week have been for the most part pretty nice. He still looks like a damn fool in a lot of them, but I wasn't expecting David Beckham or Diddy to show up. It is what it is.

I love this hood/slacks combination. The shades are dope too, plus its in my favorite color...black haha

I cannot stand scarves of any kind, and I'd rather freeze to death honestly then wear one. But for him I guess this works. I was just interested in the trench for some reason.

Rumor has it that Breezy is reportedly trying to potentially establish a clothing line of his own in the future. As long as it's not some Bathing Apes or some Ed Hardy regurgitation, I'll hold off judgement

I just had to make that the title, because the guy from American Idol (Larry Platt) is just too funny. Rarely do I do fashion posts, esp involving females, because the clothes I'm obviously not wearing and aren't interested in. HOWEVER, Christina Aguilera and "Ms. Berry, Ms. Berry...she's fine" (I had to..the moment set itself up ) Halle Berry shut the damn room down last night at the 61st Annual Golden Globes held at the Beverly Hilton last night in Los Angeles.

Christina wore a sexy Spring 2010 Versace gown, and as much as I liked slutty Christina, she looked so maturely gorgeous here it was insane.

Halle Berry reminded most red-blooded men (and some women) why she's just the most beautiful thing in life. She presented last night wearing a black Kaufman Franco gown. And now I'm done posting about women's dresses. Weird.

I'm sitting her surrounded my laptop, my blackberries, my ipod, my television and I feel secure. The planets feel aligned and my world appears to be calm. Then I realized that these objects have made up too much of who I am. If I leave the house without one or the other I'll feel lost, or incomplete. I'm not anti social or anything, and I can, and do leave some of them behind (I had to exaggerate to get the point across), but I wonder what will our society be years down the road. Is human contact no longer satisfactory to entertainment? Can we talk without "LOL" or "LMAO"? I'm a product of my generation, through and through, but I hate to think about what life would be like when everything we need comes with a battery and an adapter? Maybe life will just be put on hold while we recharge our personalities.

Time off from the blogosphere equals reflection and jumping back into the hustle of daily life. I need inspiration, if we're gonna be real. Things that make me reevaluate everything around me just a little bit more.

"Hurt" Dirty Money ft. Drake.
It's Diddy, and he's not exactly the reincarnation of Tupac, but this song just kind of hit the right emotions at the right time. Love lost isn't an atypical thing to sing about, but the idea of loving someone more than you love yourself and letting it drain you was just a powerful ass concept that I couldn't get past. And the fact that the song has Dawn Richard (who has one of the most beautiful vocal tones I've heard in a while), Drake (yes, the hype for his official debut is still on one-hundred), and a dope instrumental combo (piano and drums, doesn't get better). It's a song that has to stay on repeat not just because it's dope, but because the vibe is on a deep level.

Kudos Dirty Money.

"Beautiful Bliss" Wale
To keep it real, I could've chosen a bunch of different Wale songs for this, because he's just that legit, but 'Beautiful Bliss' doesn't deal with love, loss, or pain, but it creates a desire for success. Basically, it's a story of what life is like at the top, and how good it feels to have busted your ass to get there. I most definitely can get with it. I do this for me and myself, and damn it feels tight. And Melanie Fiona and J.Cole go in on their parts of the songAttention Deficit is a painfully underrated album.

"Un-Thinkable (I'm Ready)"- Alicia Keys
Co-written by the hip-hop prince of the moment, Drake, 'Un-Thinkable' is one of the standout tracks from Alicia's new album The Element of Freedom. It has to be a single, but the good songs never are, which is good, because sometimes the best stuff should stay hidden. Love is revisited again, but this time, it's not a fairytale. It addresses the uncertainty of falling in love,being hurt, and failing at it all, but being ready for the challenge. Vulnerability is not a bad thing, and Drake and Alicia knocked it out with this one.

Wieden_+Kennedy (one of my favorite ad agencies for a reason) have released one of the few commercial campaigns that I even pay attention to, much less attach any emotional meaning too. Americana pride, personal declarations, whatever you get out of it, it's interesting to me at least.

We were going to a blogcast of this, but life gets in the way. Anyway we move on.

I'm mad for a few reasons. Kanye-snubbed. Whitney-snubbed. Beyonce-Overhyped. Maxwell-not hyped enough. And I have a few other issues really.

Female Pop Vocal- I don't think B. Spears is the greatest vocalist, but she dominated these categories when she first came out (at least with consistent nominations), but when she actually puts out decent music she doesn't get recognized?

Best New Artist- I don't care about Academy policies, like it or not, GaGa should've been nominated. And if Drake can get 2 rap nods, why not a BNA nod?

R&B Categories- Whitney should've been all up and through these categories (Album, Female), but as usual Beyonce's money gets her places she doesn't need to be. Good (albeit EXTRA surprising) look for Pleasure P (aka Marcus Cooper) on his 3 grammy nods. Did not see that happening. Brandy should've been nominated. Anyone who is smart knows she'll never win, but she definitely had material worth being nominated for.

Country- Carrie's "Carnival Ride" should've been nominated as an album, not just for "Just a Dream", but I can deal with that.

Rap- Kanye will go postal, and I actually think he has a right to. 808s was a lot better than half of the rap albums out now, despite it's leaning to emo-rock sound.

I'm sure there are other things that I could argue about, but I don't have the energy to review all the nominations. Maybe later.

Usher has somewhat fallen off of the musical recently. His last album "Here I Stand" wasn't exactly a commercial hit, and somewhere along the lines marriage, fatherhood and divorce shifted his focus.

Well thankfully he's back. The official single off of his upcoming album "Monster" is entitled Papers, but a new track just leaked named Rockband. Yes, like the game.

But guess what? The song is hot. Granted Usher is moving in a more pop-oriented direction for this album, but the RedOne produced song is slick, uptempo, and classic Usher that keeps people on the dance floor. Plus he mentions the Rolling Stones in the song, so that's automatic cool points for him.

Next up is Wale, who's track is Letter featuring John Mayer. I don't know what to say other than I love it.

I will admit I'm a huge Wale fan, so maybe I'm a little bit biased, but his music is the truth. Lyrically he's real, raw and honest, and outside of a few artists in the game now, that sort of reality is sorely lacking. Hip-hop as a culture has been suffering from a over saturation and infatuation with money, girls, and fame, but Wale, Kid Cudi and others are finally bringing back the heart of what hip-hop used to be.

I could type out all of the lyrics and reiterate what is so amazing about this track, but the song will speak for itself. His album "Attention:Deficit" hits stores Nov. 10

Amerie is back on the scene with her latest album "In Love and War" set for release November 3 through Columbia Records. She was never one of my favorite artists, but her sound for this new album has been really appealing and different, and I just might be a little excited for it.

The promo single "Why R U" was a perfect throwback song, with a stylistically on point video, but since she isn't one of R&B's 'chosen' ones, the song hit a dead end on radio. The official single "Heard Em' All" isn't exactly my style, but it's definitely catchy and proves that she deserves a slot at the top of the charts. My favorite leak from this era is her remake of the Mint Condition classic "Pretty Brown Eyes" featuring Trey Songz. It's smooth and their voices harmonize nicely together. Plus anything Mint Condition is a plus in my book. It's not the best remake by any means, but she does a very adequate and fun job on her version.

Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel- Mariah Carey

When you've achieved the kind of international success Mariah Carey has in her almost 20 year career, failure is no longer an option for new musical material. She's had her fair share of commercial bombs (Glitter, obviously), and more than her share of commercial highs, (Butterfly, The Emancipation of Mimi)so for her twelfth studio album "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel", she certainly produces a winner. Mariah shared the executive production duties of this album with the golden boys of the moment The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, and arguably for the first time in a while produces a slick,cohesive contemporary album without sacrificing her "Mariah" personality.

I'm not a fan of long drawn out, but Mariah finds herself at her most intriguing when she's not flipping through vocal hoops and restrains herself and let's the music speak for itself. "Ribbon", "Candy Bling", and the much hyped "H.A.T.E.U" find Mariah going into her emotional journal and just reminiscing on life. One of the things that I enjoy about this album is that there are songs for people miss the early poppy, doo-wop Mariah ("It's a Wrap", "Angels Cry"), but she did what I hate that so many artists often do. She turns the strongest songs on the album into interludes. "Languishing" could've easily been one of a her strongest songs ever, but instead we get the condensed version.

All of the comments aside, marriage and maturity seem to agree with Mrs. Cannon, and this is a very nice conceptual album to add to her catalog of musical tricks.
Definitely a solid effort.

Brand New Eyes- Paramore

Very few artists can constantly convey emotions of pain, hope, anger, and fun in every song, but Hayley Williams is one of the exceptions. Young and feisty, she represents something that has been lacking from the industry for a while: passion. "Brand New Eyes", Paramore's latest effort is not a complete departure from their commercial pop-punk sound that spawned previous hits "Misery Business" and "CrushCrushCrush", but a welcome change for a band that finds themselves on a maturing lyrical journey. The beauty in this albums comes when the guitars and drums are stripped away, and a raw, acoustic sound appears. The urgency and reality in William's voice is a perfect match to lyrics that find her on a never-ending emotional journey. In the end, that's what makes Paramore such a relateable band, because we can still grow with them.

I'm not EVEN a 50 Cent fan at all. He's a dense and pretty ignorant individual 95% of the time, and plus his career has been in a ditch for some time now, so it's kinda disappointing that I like his new song "Baby by Me" with Ne-Yo featured on the remix.

The title itself is already a little crass sounding and just over the top, but it ends up being a chilled out track with a very hot club beat, and if anything wins me over in this song, it's Ne-Yo. He knows how to give a song some sort of life and credibility.

So thank you Ne-Yo. And thank you 50, for not being as whack as you've been known to be

Lew Static-"Industry Rejects"

So, Lew Static found me on twitter and directed me to his mixtape.
I rarely listen to random mixtapes unless there is some sort of buzz simply because I don't have the time, but things change.

The mixtape is interesting for sure, as the Rejects (Lew Static and Drew Sarrels) don't fit into a particular mold. They're not completely alternative, but not commercial enough to be ringtone rappers either.

They definitely have some semi-generic club songs ("On Top"; "Drive Me Wild"), but these songs have fresh enough feel to them, so that even though they're not poetic masterpieces, they'll keep you interested for the remainder of the ride

"My Dreams" is where things starts to get good. Using Goapele's "Closer to My Dreams" as the instrumental for this track, Static shows more of his personality outside of the gloss that commercial hip-hop has become. Baby steps, but interesting steps for sure.

"The Greatest" is a perfect boasting track, because it's confidence and determination fused with a rock/hip-hop sound. Lyrically, there is still much more depth desired, but that can be overlooks.

Overall, it's a very easy mixtape to listen to. It tells the story of someone who is simply put, young and living life. That in itself is a reason to keep your ears tuned in. Aging makes for a very exciting life soundtrack, and the hope is that the lyrical content will continue to rise above and beyond the depths of the "hip-hop" scene we're all suffering from. Not quite and Industry Reject yet, but there's a bit of rebellious nature hidden in there.

Yessir. Mr. Jackson is back with his upcoming album Loso's Way (Not feeling the title at all).

Anyway, he has two videos out (and I'm sure most people who are die-hard fans won't know because radio is shafting him this time around) titled "Throw It in The Bag" ft. The-Dream and "It's My Time" ft. Jeremih.

'Throw it In the Bag' is a certified club banger, and it's just a simple, fun song. Plus Claudia Jordan is the leading lady, and she's one badd chick so I like it even more.

'It's My Time' is not a super banger, but it's a passable single. Jeremih adds nothing to the song. Overall, it's decent, but the video isn't horrible. I'm hoping Fabo comes harder on the rest of the album.

This is old as hell (since around january), but it's classic Drizzy, and Trey makes it a certified banger. Still worth a rotation on the ipod. From "The Drought is Over" (Friends With Money) Mixtape.

And, another old track resurfacing: "Right to Left" by Drake and Tanya Morgan. This is a track from the Comeback Season era, and its said that Drake's rhymes are reused in the song. I don't care. Two of my favorite hip-hop artists on one track is beyond dope.

I HATE Flo-rida. He's a sellout, horrible/whack lyricist, and one of the main reasons mainstream rap is garbage. However his song "Sweat" with Chris Brown is only being mentioned because Chris' part is smooth. I wish ANY other rapper was on this

The realm of music groups is a fickle one. Danity Kane? Done. Da Band? Yea...no more. Day 26? Who knows? But they don't look to have a promising future. The point is that pop trios, quintets, and so forth are hard to maintain because of egos, cheesiness, and the fact that no one over a certain age should care about these groups. (In theory, of course.)

Now, let's meet Electrik Red, the newest group vying for the title of the 'it' girl group of the moment. Honestly I was (and still am) a little skeptical, but after listening to a few of their tracks, I'm impressed. None of them have voices to write home about, but I like the breathy, sex-filled Janet vibe they give off, and they're hot girls, so I mean that's an even BIGGER plus. But the icing on the cake is that their album is a product of one of the golden guys in music now, (Terius Nash aka The-Dream)so the songs automatically have dope production. Can pretty girls survive on being pretty girls, or can they actually stick around and create a brand for themselves that people want to support?

I haven't made a post in a while simply for lack of creativity, but I thought I'd give some shine to the man of the moment: Jimmy from Degrassi. Also known as the rapper Drake.

It's true, he's been out for a good while (at least to those who are big fans of the underground mixtape scene), but he's just started to get major exposure on the radio front. He's got the easy-going pretty boy type vibe already, and while I wasn't a huge fan before the hype and overexposure, I can definitely appreciate his interesting way of rapping/singing.

I just needed to give him his props now before I die of overexposure and hate him in a few months.

Forever...in a Day

I'm not gonna lie, I thought Day26 was completely whack, irrelevant, and with the exception of a few songs off their first album (Since You've Been Gone) I didn't expect to hear anything worth listening to from them ever again. The whole boy-band image is hard to recreate, especially among urban listeners,so the odds were definitely not in their favor. Their sophomore album "Forever in a Day" finds them finally taking a more current approach to their sound, and putting some life behind their eyes. First single "Imma Put it on Her" is catchy enough, but Diddy continues to wreck songs by 'rapping' on them and causing them to lose all cred whatsoever. The album picks up nicely on second single "Stadium Music" and the T-Pain featured "Shawty What's Up". Uptempo's are not the groups strongest asset, but they certainly put energy into the songs, making them worthy club bangers. The group sounds as harmonious as ever, but the latter part of the album doesn't sound as fresh as the beginning (the horribly produced Jermaine Dupri "Need That"), making us wonder if the group knows who they are, and what they want to sound like. In the end, the reality is they have a long time to find 'forever', but they just might get one more day to find it.

Long story short, he's become one of my new favorite artists on the mixtape scenes after he sampled "Who Am I to Say?" by Hope (one of favorite songs by the way), and proved that he's a force to be reckoned with. His flow is simple, laid back, and confident, and his lyrics are clever without being too contrived. I'll be on the lookout for more from him in the future.

I say it a lot, music is in a recession. A recession of talent, drive, and creativity. It seems like everyone is bent on copying the same sounds, singing about the same tired club experiences, and just being damn robots. Pop music to me especially is full of over-produced, emotionless crap, and it makes turning on a radio pointless. Keri Hilson isn't exactly a svengali of music, but she's a nice departure from the same formulaic R&B dominated by few artists with few fresh ideas and sounds. Hilson's debut album "In A Perfect World" released March 24th, features the song "Knock You Down" with appearances by Kanye West and Ne-Yo. The production is breezy, enjoyable, and all artists on the track make it worth listening to. Keri may not be creative revolutionary, but she at least shows her talent and proves that maybe music isn't as formulaic as it always has been.

For a moment, there's an artist with a different approach to the same old scheme. Maybe the army of pop music machines can be defeated.

Creative Recreation is a shoe company based out of Los Angelos, California, and is best described as urban runway along with countless other shoe outlets across the world. Consistent styles combined with unique patterns, designs and materials make them a company that is absolutely worth watching and wearing. CR's Spring 2009 shoe line features solid, clean, bold colors and shoe quality built to last. The Italian manufacturing is icing on the shoe construction cake. And the best part is their logo is just too dope, so I guess I like them just because of that. It's just a bonus that the shoes happen to be nice.

'Rebirth' of a rap superstar..

Lil Wayne has proven in the past few years that he's your typical southern rapper, having pushed himself far away from his Cash Money roots. He hasn't lost who he used to be, but instead added a quirky, eccentric, hip-hop response to Kurt Cobain type of personality to his music. We almost never know what to expect from him in interviews, performances, and albums, and with the release of his newest single from his rock inspired album "Rebirth", we're taken on yet another roller coaster ride, courtesy of Dwyane Carter.

"Hot Revolver" in theory should be a nice song. The instrumental is catchy, Wayne's guitar playing is actually not as horrible as people might assume, but combining all of that with his unique rap sounds and over auto-tuning, the song is a creative project blown up in a million pieces. The saving grace of the song ends up being the background vocals on the chorus, which gives it the only sense of catchiness throughout the song. Lil Wayne is not a singer, obviously, but the over digitization of his voice only magnifies the alien qualities that made him so unique and the song ends up making the fans possibly reaching for a revolver. To end their misery, of course.

However, I will say this in Wayne's defense; He's taking a very bold and interesting risk with this album, and maybe it's not that the songs are bad, but they just don't catch the full energy of Lil Wayne. That is the ultimate disappointment because he is like lightning in a bottle when he performs, but so far this is sounding like a spring shower in a cup. I'll sit back and wait for the final act myself.

A Day to Remember - New Music - More Music Videos

The time for a pulsating, insanely addicting song of the summer is almost here, and with the musical landscape not dominated by a single genre unlike years past, the field is wide open for an act to take charge of the radio airwaves. New Found Glory has stepped up to the starting gate with their new single "Listen to Your Friends", and the title alone makes it worth a listen. After all, friends don't lead friends in the wrong direction, right?

In the midst of the Fall Out Boys, the Panic! At the Disco's, Good Charlotte's and the countless other pop/rock punk bands out there, it's easy for a group without a hit in recent memory to fall into the abyss of one-hit wonders. (Bowling for Soup, anyone?) However, they're back and in full force with an energetic number that will be played at more proms, homecomings, and high school dances then necessary. That just might be the point, after all if the kids latch on to a song, the general public just might be a little more interested. The song isn't revolutionary, and pretty much sounds like the rest of "Glory's" catalog, but as long as radio spins it, the kids are happy, and the band has been plucked from obscurity, then this single should be checked off as a job well done. It isn't groundbreaking enough for song of the summer, but this is the great start of a potentially beautiful friendship

"If You Seek Amy"

Britney Spears may be a lot of things, but shy and reserved is definitely not one of them. Her personal troubles have certainly been well publicized in the last few years, but now the focus is back on her music. By no means is she the deepest artist in the sea of musical fish, but she's figured out what works for her, and if she has to make fun at her own life while batting her eyes the other way, then she will. "If You Seek Amy" garnered a lot of controversy over it's suggestive lyrics, as well as the double meaning of the song title (If you don't get it, say it really slowly), and in true Britney fashion, set the stage for what would inevitable be a media field day. She called herself "Miss Bad Media Karma" in the single "Piece of Me", but maybe she should reverse that title, because her media karma just may propel this song up the charts.

On to the video. She still possesses her blatant, teasing sexuality, but instead of flipping her hair, hips, and other body parts in front of a million back up dancers in an anonymous club somewhere (as the teen pop formula for successful videos had long required), she's picked up her come-on's and taken them to suburbia. This is the time where the kids need to leave the room. "Amy" is set in a typical suburban home that has been taken over by drunken, promiscuous partiers. Spears emerges as the lone vixen, and as she wanders through the remains of the night before, we see flashbacks of Britney doing what she does best, putting on a show. She certainly proves in this video, that the sexiness of past years, has not gone anywhere, and if anything, mature Britney has become more tantalizing to fantasize about.

While the video is considerably less choreographed than many of her older (and more infamous videos), her dancing is still there, although Britney has moved her mindset into the world of double meanings. The video cleverly ends with a June Cleaver-esque Spears stepping out of her house with her two children and husband and greeting a voracious paparazzi, news media mob. Translation? What goes on behind closed doors, is not always what you get in front of your face. If anything, this works for her "Amy" persona, because that is who the world is looking for; sexy Britney writhing on tables and beds in bustiers, with an apparent reckless abandon. Instead what we see is a modern-day Stepford woman. I'll bet money that Britney would rather stay inside if she could. Can you really blame her?

Adidas is celebrating their 60th anniversary this year, so look for a lot of retro styles to hit store shelves soon. These shoes scream dopeness and freshness, and I need them. I mean come on! Maybe I'll continue the retro revolution with a hi-top fade and a kangol hat. Or maybe I won't.

Y-3 2009 Collection
I don't care that these are most likely well over $200. Yohji Yamamoto is quickly becoming one of my favorite shoe designers, and he's proof to others (cough Kanye cough) that slapping a hefty price tag on bullshit that can be found at any swap meet from here to Alaska is not gonna go over well. The price of men's sneakers has always been a little overkill, but if the style is there, the durability is also present, I'm all for spending a little bit of money for a good pair of shoes.

Just make sure your bills are paid and you have a roof over which to store your shoes. Because I know I'm not about to begin begging for food and money while looking like I stepped out of an advertisement for the good life.

Kelly Clarkson is a pop mega star, and a reality show winner. The two aren't exactly synonymous, but Clarkson proved that her insanely powerful voice was a forced to be reckoned with. Three albums and two Grammys later, Kelly is back with her fourth CD titled "All I Ever Wanted. It's being pegged as a more mature of her multi-platinum album "Breakaway" and less of the singer- songwriter vibe that was found on her less commercially successful, yet critically acclaimed third album "My December". What we have here is a track from the new album named "The Day We Fell Apart." Normally, I'm not a fan of super cheesy pop music, and thankfully this isn't that type of the song. Kelly's voice is in prime form, and the drum line in this song is so powerful that it becomes an instant rocker. The best part about her performances is when she sings, she makes sure you feel everything that she's feeling, which makes for an even better experience. A catchy melody, strong verses, and an emotion-filled delivery prove that not only is Clarkson back, but is securing her place as one of the greatest pop singers of the new millennium.

"All I Ever Wanted" is slated for a March 10, 2009 release.

John Legend- "Everybody Knows"

John Legend's third album release "Evolver" had him go in a different, more upbeat direction than his first two records. While his forte is piano ballads, the first single off of the new album "Green Light" featuring Andre 3000 of OutKast proved that Legend is a truly versatile artists and in fact has the chops and musical ear to pull of more groove-able songs. "Everbody Knows" is a very nice mid-tempo song, with drums and acoustic guitars being the main instruments on the song. His vocals are good as usual, and the smooth, almost reggae vibe of the song makes it a very easy listening track. As my favorite song off of the album, I'm even more excited about hearing it on the radio.

The video for the song is simple and well-shot, and not lacking in a plot, nor is it overloaded in unnecessary scenes. The video follows several couples in their various romantic settings, along with solo scenes of Legend around the city. The most interesting part of the video are the scenes where Legend is alone in a dark room and has various words appear all over his body. His creativity is becoming more evident in each video and overall it is an interesting video.

Yohji Yamamoto, the creator of the Y-3 line, an extension of the Adidas company bothers me. At the same time I'm in awe of the guy. He is a genius at creating urban acessories and clothing that are appealing to most people, (guys especially) but the high fashion in him makes these prices so completely unrealistic for the masses, like myself. So that's more of a personal gripe, but come on man! It's a recession, throw me a bone, slash some prices!

But about the accessories. The Spring/Summer 09 Collection is actually very good. Although I'm not a bag/accessory type of person, when I find a tight bag, the earth should shake. Because it's a rarity. I mean like finding a four-leaf clover rare. Thanks to Hypebeast, I can give you a sneak preview of the collection and for those of you who can spend Y-3 cash, more power to you. Just make sure to send me some stuff. Beggars can't be choosers, so I'll take whatever!

Converse. Chucks. Whatever you call them, you know they're simple, classic, and most importantly fresh. My Chucks are my favorite shoes because I don't have to worry about beating some people up for stepping on a pair of shoes I wasted an entire paycheck on. And don't act like I'm crazy because you know people (myself included) lose their minds when they get a scratch on their shoes. And I'm just lazy and don't want to match everything I wear with my shoes. I'm convinced it's a sick cycle. If you can't match your clothes, you go out and waste more money on shoes until you do. But that's another issue.

Back to Converse. Maybe I've been living under a rock or something, but apparently they've been building up their brand. And I'm not talking about those ridiculous Ed Hardy Converse shoes either.

1Hund(RED) Artist #58 Steve Monti ($76.99)
First off, the Product Red movement is amazing. Although society tends to only praise these social movements for as long as they're 'it' issue, some really great artists have come out of this project. Steve Monti's design is completely dope and something not found anywhere else. The people cutouts surrounding the shoe equal complete freshness. And whenever the proceeds go to help people in need it's a bigger plus.

Matt and Kim #66 ($54.99)
Once again, Converse's idea to have one hundred different designers for their Product (RED) campaign was complete genius. Matt and Kim, whoever they are, created what can only be called walking art. The building photo on the side of the shoe gives me Warhol-esque feelings and I'm digging it.

Mike Schall #33 ($54.99)
The pipelines around the shoe has a really modernistic art feel to it. I think I might need these.

Chuck Taylor All-Star Big Plaid ($50.00)
It's plaid. It's fresh. It's Converse. As corny as that is, there's not really much more that needs to be said. Freshness all around.

Jeff Hamada #24 ($55.00)
The whole "we are the world" thing with the hands is really creative, and does more to drive home the emphasis of the (RED) campaign. I'd like brighter colors or at least bolder colors but the design is still fresh.

Elliot Yamin, third runner up on season five of 'American Idol' has released the first single off of his sophomore album titled "Fight for Love". Unlike most Idol rejects, he found temporary chart success with his Top 20 single "Wait For You". Elliot is point blank, an amazing vocalist. He's one of the most talented male pop singers on the scene right now, but his problem is, he releases songs that sound old and irrelevant. "Fight for Love" is not a bad song at all, in fact it's very catchy and has decent lyrics, but the production is very average and forgettable. Sure, he's more of a Adult Contemporary artist, but he never can solidly create a sound that is mature and current. He has a small shot at Top 40 airplay and even a decent run on the AC stations, but if he wants to kick the Idol curse for good and establish a solid career, he's going to need to bite the bullet and pull out a decidedly unique album, not just another cheesy pop album just waiting to be karaoke'd by every wannabe Justin, Usher, and even Elliot.

Forever 21, the perennially female clothing store, has finally released a men's line that's actually worth talking about. Heritage 1981 is the name of the line, and it's actually quite affordable. Now the only cons that I've seen so far is that some of the jackets really REALLY need to be a little thicker. Because we call can't live in beach weather all of the time.

Nice, vintage feel to the jacket. Personally I'm not a fan of all of the buttons, but it's definitely a unique jacket

The plaid is hot. Plain and simple. Great track jacket and fresh design.

Fresh out of the Box..

The Fray have just released their second self-titled EP "The Fray", and they're nothing if not consistent. "How to Save a Life" and "Over My Head (Cable Car)", the two biggest singles from their first album (How to Save a Life) are pretty good indicators of the sounds of the new album. Piano heavy ballads and mid-tempos, coupled with contemplative and at times overly dark lyrics are once again found all over the record. However, it's not a bad thing, because Issac Slade has the perfect voice for these types of records and they have mastered what sounds work, and what sounds don't. Lyrically The Fray is still on a strong level, but I think a band like them would be perfect tackling more varied subject matter in their songs.

Quick Rundown of Standout tracks:
"You Found Me"- Lead single. Wonderful production, strong lyrics. Great vocals 4/5
"Syndicate"- A mid-tempo ballad, which is more unusual for the band. Production is decent, however it's missing some power which would make this easily one of their best tracks. It's almost anti-climatic. Worth the download. 4/5
"Happiness"- I was surprised by the sound of this song. More guitar, less piano. There should've been more tracks like this on the album to make it thoroughly versatile, but this is definitely an interesting track. It's raw and bare sounding, which is a perfect compliment to Slade's vocals. 5/5
"Say When"- The best mid-tempo song on the album. The vocal structure and melody is very climatic and breaks into a powerful, flowing chorus. Production and vocals are very good.

Overall, the album is another solid effort from The Fray and while their sound hasn't radically changed, they have stuck with the format that first found them chart success and have put out another great record. Hopefully in the future they will begin to evolve their sound so they can avoid the bottomless pit of contemporary rock bands with no new tricks up their sleeves.

So in my quest to fill my closet with more clothes, and at the same time being hit with an unfortunate reality that the economy is killing me, I landed on Crooks and Castles. Well re-landed, I guess. Anyway, a quick FYI for people, Crooks and Castles is an L.A. based urban clothing company, with a steady rise in fresh designs. The prices are not for everyone but they definitely reflect the quality of the brand.

Castellano Sunglasses ($250.00)
Definitely one of the better sunglasses I've seen in a while. I can't stand glasses that are just made to follow a current trend and then are stupid to wear 2 years later ("nerd glasses"). But these are fresh and current but still able to be worn down the line. And they're white. Which is always a good color to add to an outfit.

8021 Crooks Stripe C Belt ($60)
Yes, that's not cheap for a belt, but leather and nylon are generally durable combinations and the gun metal buckle is just pretty cool.

The majority of their online store are original T-Shirts designed by the company, and I was more interested in the accessories, but they are definitely a good up and coming company to check out. As they expand and put out new clothes I will keep you guys posted.

B.o.B - "I'll Be In The Sky"

B.O.B. - "I'll Be in The Sky"
I don't know what it stands for, but it's the name of up and coming ATL rapper B.O.B. he's not super unknown thanks to collaborations with T.I and Ludacris, but I'm sure to 95% of you he's a new name. I'm not much on hip-hop/rap these days, because outside of the ringtone songs, it's pretty boring, but B.O.B is a new Andre 3000. Or he at least gives off that aura in his new song "I'll Be in The Sky". Andre 3000 is badass in every way and "Sky" utilizes a lot of the same big band, upbeat instrumentation that gave Outkast some of their greatest hits ("Hey Ya" "I Like the Way You Move"). His voice is also very very similar to Andre's, almost to the point where I thought it was a new Outkast song. But he's definitely released a buzz worthy single and it actually would be a nice fit on radio, especially with the spring season coming. But the only negative to his sound is that since he is so similar to Andre, there will almost certainly be critics who will say he needs his own sound. But he makes good music, and that's all that counts.

Now on to the video. B.O.B doesn't take himself seriously at all, and I like that. But it's kinda weird because at first glance he doesn't give off the off kilter, quirky vibe that artists like Andre have. Long story short, his voice doesn't fit his look, but that's what makes it all amazing. The video is not bad, although the 'hype' men in the background look really random and out of place. Actually all the background people don't fit this song, but whatever.

His album "The Adventures of B.O.B" is due sometime later this year.

Now I might get crap for this, but whatever. Jesse McCartney is the white Chris Brown. He's that one kid that was super nerdy in high school, and then one summer he shows up at school with a fresh cut and new clothes, and the next thing you know he's got chicks all over him.

I hated Jesse McCartney. Well the R&B Jesse at least. It wasn't believable, the lyrics he was singing. And I stand by it. Sometimes people need to embrace flip flops and guitars, not fitteds and Jordans! But Ludacris, either really saw this as a last ditch attempt at a hit, or just felt bad for the kid and jumped on his new track "How Do You Sleep?". I'm not even gonna respond to that, because there's jokes all in that. But long story short, typical 'pop n b' production, decent vocals, cheesy lyrics. Miley Cyrus fans should eat this up. Maybe I'm just getting old. Is this the new pop revolution? Dammit No!

Yes, Christina Milian. I love her. In fact she and Mya are thisclose to becoming my wives so I can get a little bigamy going on here! They are ridiculously sexy (Dip it Low anybody????), but I'm losing my point. Basically Christina can't have a music career to save her life, so I was surprised when I heard her new song "Us Against the World". It's a seriously hot song. Sappy and cliche like a Rihanna song, but artist's need gimmick's these days, so it should work for her. She doesn't have the most amazing voice, but she can actually sing. I don't know how strong this would be on radio, but it definitely deserves some shine. Now she and I can go on and plan our lives together!

Anwyay, I got random giftcards, but bought myself some cool stuff from AE. So yeah. Another useless holiday. Oh and as a Christmas present (although I'm pretty sure that you won't necessarily care) two new songs that are interesting me

Solange- "Would've Been the One"

Don't ask. I heard it in my friends car, and she's trying so hard to be anti Beyonce that I think I'm just saying whatever and giving her a chance. Something about this song is banging. Or maybe I was just watching "The Temptations" movie too much so I'm in a doo-wopey mood. Anyway it's a good song and the album "Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams" seems like it's worth checking out. If I ever care enough about her I'll take a full listen. Don't hold your breath though.

Jason Mraz "Butterfly"

Again I think that Temptations movie got to me because this is another throwback sound. Very 70s dance disco-pop, and despite his nerdiness I like the song. I don't think he really has the swagger to pull of these lyrics, but I mean I guess it's a "Revenge of the Nerds" kind of thing. So yea. It's a clever song, in a weird way. I really don't want to know who/what inspired this however.

I mean let's face it, the best year for music in a long time was 03/04. I mean that summer was crazzyyyyy. "Crazy in Love", "Baby Boy", "Cry Me a River", "Toxic", anything Lil Jon decided to scream on, everything Usher, Outkast, "If I Ain't Got You", "Change Clothes"....wow I miss it.

And then we flash forward to 2008. Hannah fucking Montana? Whatttt? Yea, I don't listen to the radio for this exact reason, but there were a few songs that I thought were good. Now this list really doesn't include the singer-songwriter people, but it's just good (or decent at best...hell maybe just catchy) mainstream music. Let's get it together people.

I've been convinced that The Dreams voice is extremely odd. It just sounds weird. I mean like a nasaly child, but he has crazy talent. He's the king of writing songs that repeat syllables and needless words ("Baby"-LL Cool J; "Umbrella", etc). But this song is actually one of my favorite singles by him. It has the same sound as "Shawty is a ten" and a little bit of "Falsetto", but this time the vocal arrangements make this one hot. So as much as I hate to admit it, this will be on my ipod soon.

December's only halfway over, and it's still going to be cold for a little bit, so I guess awkward sweaters/sweatshirts are okay to pull out now. And I don't mean homemade sweaters, unless you're dad is Ralph Lauren.

Before I go on, I really want to say that NOT EVERY FLANNEL/PLAID SHIRT SHOULD BE WORN! I hope I was clear. I realize it's back in style now, but I believe that these shirts don't look good in half the colors they're being sold in (Neon Green? Really?), so people need to be careful. Especially the ones with the bigger pockets. This is especially true for smaller built guys. They make you look like you're drowning in your shirt, especially the people who stay buying a size larger than what they should. The big white tee phenomenon should be left to tees.

I really don't like much of LRG at all. I hate, hate, hate their track jackets/hoodies, and basically everything else they make. They're just pointless uses of ugly bright colors and random shapes/patterns with no shape. If you're going to try and be creative, have a story or cohesive theme please. They're super trend driven, which isn't always good. Anyway, apparently I like their plain jackets. And only a FEW of those lol. My outerwear style needs to classic/clean, but most def needs to be modern. And by clean I mean I don't want 100 dumb zippers, HUGE pockets, and military-style braids on the shoulders ALL one one jacket. I hate that. That's a sign of trend overkill. But this jacket is very urban and on point with the trends without being so ridiculous you'll look dumb wearing it two or three seasons later. My goal especially with jackets and shoes is to potentially wear it for a good time period and still look fly. Females are better at that than guys. We tend to be very in the moment with clothing. (Remember Rocawear,FUBU, Southpole?) I know so many guys, myself included have so many of those clothes lying around in their pile of wasted money because they're not hot. But back to the jacket. The color is dope. It's a nice departure from black.

This is probably the best knockoff from the Y-3 line, and this price is a little more reasonable. Part of me thinks it's a little exaggerated in design, but this is why I like black shoes. It's a good detractor from the other stuff. But this is a definite option for the shoe closet.

Ok. Duffy, Adele, and Amy Winehouse are all similar in a few ways.
*They're from the UK
*They're all women (obviously)
*They're all 'alternative', soul, throwback singers
*They were all released to critical acclaim.

I feel like every few years we have to have a new hot import singer with a 'fresh voice' (as vh1 likes to call them) and a 'unique style' hit the States. Don't get me wrong I love all three of these artists, but it's a little pathetic that it takes one sometimes purposely sugary song to make them big on radio here. Now some people will say, they have talent, so why should it matter how they became popular? Well, that's true, but I think it's dumb that they either have to wait an album or two to even get the time of day over here, or rely on an extremely late album re-release for some shine. I'm sure within the next two years, another girl (or guy hopefully; James Blunt or Daniel Powter anyone?) will come along and sweep us away with some amazing song. Then they'll spend a year or so plastered across magazines with the same title "America's hottest import", (or something similar) and be the go-to artist for all people who want to seem 'edgy' until the cycle starts again and they're back to only seeing popularity overseas.
But hey, I enjoy the music, so maybe the cycle is for gullible listeners like me who don't really take the time to search outside the Beyonce/Rihanna bubble we live in. And hearing the song on a cheesy reality show (The Hills, Gossip Girl, etc) doesn't count.

*Katy Perry- Should've gotten best new artist, and that's about it. Pop Female is ridiculous to include her.
*Danity Kane- It's COMPLETELY obvious "Damaged" should've been nominated. I mean they were actually a pop group with a huge top 10 single. Gnarls Barkley? And "Apologize" by OneRepublic is ridiculously old.
*Maroon 5 and Rihanna- I mean the song wasn't even written as a duet. She just got on it, because she's a overexposed mediawhore, who is jumping on any song she can. M5's original version deserves a grammy, but not the version with Rihanna.
*Leona Lewis- No Best New Artist nom? Have they heard her voice? And she had a solid album, not to mention she's become a complete international star.
*Pink- "So What" was a good single, and I guess given the songs out in the past year, she deserves the nomination.
*Britney Spears- Honestly "Best Dance Recording" should be her category. It's the only place she'll see grammy gold (2005 "Toxic"). "Piece of Me" or "Break the Ice" are much more worthy than "Disturbia" by Rihanna.
*Beyonce- "Me, Myself, and I" It's 2008! That song was released in 2003! Are you seriously nominating it 5 years later? I feel like that shouldn't even be possible.
*Carrie Underwood- This is getting ridiculous. "Last Name" was a good single, but definitely not her strongest. It's like she's nominated just to be nominated, and not even with a song she has a shot at winning with. Wasted spot.
*Mariah Carey- Bottom line, the E=MC2 was not an amazing album, but she definitely deserved a nomination for at least "Bye Bye" or "Best Contemporary R&B". I mean J. Holiday over her? WTF.

Britney Spears is misunderstood. Maybe I'm one of the few that really gives her sympathy, and it's not even because I like her music, or even her as a person. I guess it's because we live in a world where it's too easy to believe anything we hear. It really sucks to live life with people out in the internet world diagnosing you saying you've done this drug, you have this issue, when they know nothing. Because a 'source' said something obviously doesn't make it true. But whatever. I just think she can't ever catch a break.

On to the show.

The documentary was done brilliantly. From filming to editing, to the background music, this almost didn't feel like it should be on MTV. It was so raw and artificial, and a refreshing change from MTV 'reality' TV. For all of the nitpickers who say she didn't go into enough detail about her struggles, all I have to say is would you really spill your deepest secrets to the world? Didn't think so. She surprised me with her ability to take stock of the last few years of her life, and her mental awareness contradicted all the stories about her being so completely out of it. I don't even think I could assess the doc in a normal way, because her life is so unnatural. But the video showed her in the best way she could be shown now. She's healing, and growing, and all the fuzzy stuff. I think she's ready to go back to her old life, hopefully with a stronger psyche.

Maybe the crazy masses will give her peace.
She's human.

I'm fighting beack tears right now as I type this because for all of the discrimination that my people have faced for hundreds of years didn't matter. All of the racists and naysayers who tried to derail this election didn't matter. Yes, we did it. This is a man who genuinely wants to change the lives of EVERY American, and put our country on the level that it deserves to be. And for that I'm proud. But to add on to the fact that this man is black is awe-inspiring. I remember when I was little I used to dream of being president, but it seemed like a dream that wouldn't happen, because unfortunately people like me weren't seen as capable. But this is possible for everyone. I just can't say it anymore we have the first black President. the 44th President of the United States of America is Barack Obama. Dr. King, Malcolm X, W.E.B DuBois, Medgar Evers, Coretta Scott King, Jesse Jackson, George Thomas (my grandfather, who was the first black vice principal in Hartford, Ct. Things are just so stressful, I don't know what to say. I'm dealing with so many serious personal issues, I'm afraid to share with others, and to make matters worse money is TIGHT! I miss my old life, albeit stressful as well. But HS was such a shell for me, and being on my own sucks. I miss the way things used to be, and based on the things that have happened to me recently, the future won't ever be that bright. Maybe I'm just in a fucked up place right now, or maybe I'm finally opening my eyes to reality of my reality.

I almost believe that there's nothing to believe in anymore. I always had this idea of where my life would be at this point and to have done a COMPLETE 180 is hard. I want to scream sometimes, and I want to be heard. I'm tired of going through pointless motions, I just want to have my stability back. And I hate relationships, just a PS. Mine is falling apart, and the more I realize I can't fix it, the less I care. So secretly I think I despise those who found happiness. But that's a side point. I think I just want a new life. And this is so corny, but Jessica Simpson is keeping me going. "Remember That" and "Pray Out Loud" are my saving graces now. I need a chance to breathe.

Hm...No roommate still...apparently he moved off campus b4 the year started, so I'm enjoying the temporary peace! Um..there's a shitload of new freshman on campus, so random. I honestly admit I have trouble with change, and having my friends live in different places. I feel like I have so much alone time, I don't use it wisely. But there will be parties this weekend after the big game...so I can get drunk, haha. Classes, aren't total crap, just needa do work. Hmm..maybe I can do this

Quick thought...

Have you ever wondered why it's so hard for us to open our minds? It's almost as if were conditioned to see only one path. For the enlightened few, it's an amazing feeling to be accepting and open to so much, but to the rest...why is it so necessary to reject and not embrace? It does nothing but alienate.

Anywayz, this is a short blog. Packing is so not happening like I thought it would, very slow. Slowly letting go of my car. I will miss more than life, but hopefully I'll get it back soon. Um no more work for me. I miss my clan of fools and I have no one to be dumb with. Whatever, I should go out and get a life anyway. OH! And it's definitely a problem when you can identify random ppl's clothing as coming from your store haha. Clearly I worked too many hours! But on a more serious note....I'm addicted to Starbucks (still) and it's burning a bad ass hole in my pocket. The fact that I wake up and literally crave a Double Chocolate Chip Frapp is a sickness! Helppppp....Oh well...lol

Yeah, I'm not a avid typer, unless it's for a paper (and even then I try my best to do nothing lol) But I guess I should kind of update you on my life. Um, school is close!! I think I'm just anxious to leave my house and my family and the negativity that I'm always facing, but other than that I don't really care. Most of my core friends are all spreading out, and truth be told I'm lost as fuck without them lol. So I guess I'll have a lot of alone time, which is good I guess. Ugh I guess I can study or some sht. But I'll drown my boredom in a good party. Speaking of which T-Pain is playing my homecoming...he sucks on his own, so he needs to bring ppl lol. Anyway hopefully sophomore year will be as dope as freshman year. And yet I need to pack. So I'm watchin the 'Dark Knight' now and Heath Ledger is brilliant....no more words needed. Details later...AHH so here's my full thingy about the movie. Christian Bale..passable as Batman..Maggie Gyllenhaal is a waste in most movies..Aaron Eckhart is a good Two-Face, but Heath dead or alive killed the performance. Rarely do I see a movie where I don't see the actor, but here I forgot it was Heath for a while and just saw a sickeningly brilliant sociopath. I love these types of action films, because there's such an underlying psychological theme in almost all of them, and the whole good vs. evil thing was SUPER obvious here. I honestly wish Heath was alive so the Joker could get his own franchise. It was that amazing of a performance. Total surrender of self, and full absorption of character. He deserves the Oscar.

Hey world! I guess I finally broke down and decided to make a personal blog. Don't really have a reason, just a means to vent and bounce off ideas to the world.
